Pretty much all children simply love crayons. These Autism Awareness Puzzle Piece Crayons were created especially for my daughter who has Autism. Not only can she color with these awesome things but spread awareness as she does. These are great to share with friends, at parties, teacher gifts, Autism Awareness promotions and so much more. Below I have compiled all the details you need to make these awesome puzzle piece crayons yourself. Complete with instructions, pictures and even tips! Enjoy!
SUPPLIES & TOOLS:
* Silicone Puzzle Piece Mold
* Crayons
* Oven
* Freezer
* Oven Safe Pan/Tray Larger Than Your Mold
*Oven Mitt
STEP 1: Preheat your oven to 225 degrees F
STEP 2: Unwrap the paper liner from your crayons. Break them up into pieces and put inside your mold. Each puzzle piece will hold 3-4 regular sized broken crayons. (I used alike colors to give them some extra color pops)
STEP 3: Put your filled up with crayons mold on top of the larger heat safe pan/tray and put them in the oven on the middle rack. (Your oven needs to be at the desired temperature)
STEP 4: Closely watch (check every few minutes) your crayons melt into the puzzle piece form for 15 - 20 minutes. They will look just as the picture below when ready to remove from oven.
STEP 5: Using your oven mitt, remove the mold and tray from your oven and set out to cool. Cool at room temperature for 30 minutes.
STEP 6: After cooled, place the mold into your freezer for 30 minutes.
STEP 7: Carefully remove the crayons one by one from your mold. They should separate very easily like shown in the picture below.
STEP 8: Once your newly made by you puzzle pieces have been removed from their mold, do whatever you wish. Enjoy!!
**REPEAT UNTIL YOU RUN OUT OF CRAYONS**
TIPS:
*Before removing each puzzle piece, gently pull on the edges to separate the mold from the crayon. This will make the overall removing a breeze.
*Store in containers for safe keeping.
*This is a great way to make use of all those broken crayons. Mix them all together and create a colorful piece every time!
